damn I REALLY need to prioritise reading dalemark! the 8 days of dwj podcast episodes about it seemed so compelling, and dwj is of course dwj!

"bad at being history"...yeah that does not surprise me about those books and unfortunately rather erases a lot of what I want out of this kind of narrative :(
